CRIDERSVILLE -- Debra Kay Nester, age 71, died on Monday, April 7, 2025 at Lima Memorial Health System. Her death was attributed to long term complications from a surgical accident in 1997 which resulted in a life flight to University of Michigan Hospital and countless surgeries and long term hospital stays. Debbie was born on November 26, 1953 at Lima Memorial Hospital, the adored daughter of Betty and Richard Joseph who have proceeded her in death.
Debbie had a wonderful childhood and loved growing up in Cridersville, Ohio. She graduated from Wapakoneta High School class of 1972. On June 9, 1972 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, she married Kenneth T. Nester who survives. He was her devoted caretaker and support through her long medical journey.
A true extrovert, Debbie loved people and dogs. The hospitality industry fit her perfectly beginning at the Holiday Inn, which was attached to the Chalet Inn, Wapakoneta. She was in sales for Choice Hotels and became General Manager of the Comfort Inn, Sidney, Ohio. Debbie was a great cook and hosted all the family holidays. Her love for family was boundless but her five granddaughters were her loves. It was always fun at Gremmy and Poppy's house.
In addition to her husband, Kenny, she is survived by two daughters and their children, Angela McGlothen, St. Marys, and her children Karsyn, Rilyn and Lynex; daughter Kelli (Daven Stedke), Shawnee, and her daughters Berkley and Lauryn Fisher. She Is also survived by her sister, Patricia (John H.) Johnson and their son JJ (Erin) Johnson. Debbie had many nieces and nephews whom she loved.
There will be no visitation or services as per her wishes.
The family extends its gratitude to the staff of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and Lima Memorial Medical System for their compassionate care over 25 years. Dr. Wilfred Ellis will be forever known to the family as her angel doctor as Debbie called him.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lima Memorial Foundation, 1003 Bellefontaine, Lima, Ohio 45804 or Auglaize County Humane Society, 616 Dixie Highway, Wapakoneta, Ohio 45895.

I met Deb at Comfort Inn in Sidney where we became the very best of friends! She had a heart of gold! Although I didn't get to see her much over the years, we always continued to love each other. I'm so heartbroken over this loss! Prayers for her family. Gone but never forgotten
