OTTAWA — Dennis D. Farthing, 74 of Ottawa died at 4:13 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Putnam County Ambulatory Care Center. He was born January 8, 1945 in Continental to the late Burdette and Burnis (Miley) Farthing. On May 1, 1971 he married Carol Teders and she survives in Ottawa.
Also surviving are 3 children: Tonya (Tim) Buchanan of Zanesville, Gregory Farthing of Ottawa and Sarah Farthing of Columbus; 2 grandchildren: Garrett and Braylon Buchanan; a brother, Don (Carol) Farthing of Leipsic; and 3 sisters: Joyce (Jim) Stover of Reno, NV, Jan Frantz of Cridersville and Janeen Elliott of Ottawa.
Dennis was a 1964 graduate of Leipsic High School. He worked at Sylvania (Philips) in Ottawa and at Whirlpool in Findlay. He was a veteran of the US Army, an active member of Ottawa VFW Post 9142. In his spare time he loved gardening, especially growing potatoes. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time at the lake. A life long fan of many sports, his favorite by far were The Ohio State Buckeyes. Go Bucks!
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 11, 2019 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa officiated by Fr. Matt Jozefiak. Military rites will be given by Ottawa American Legion, VFW and AMVETS. Burial will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a charity of the donors choice.
