DOROTHY MASON

COLUMBUS — Dorothy Jean Mason slipped away peacefully and quietly to be with the Lord on May 22, 2016.

She was born on October 20, 1940 to loving parents in Harlan, KY, who predeceased her, Princella Cole-Farrow and Amil Cole.

Dorothy Jean Mason was a very bright, intelligent and God-fearing woman. She was devoted to her sons, Attorney Renny J. Tyson and Anthony R. Mason and family. She was an avid reader and enjoyed shopping, and was extremely thrifty. Dot loved cooking for her sons and family. Dorothy leaves this life having achieved the ultimate goal, a life of selfless love and dedication to others, having earned glory and God's blessings. She was a good, gifted woman worthy of reward for a life well lived.

Dorothy Jean Mason was preceded in death by her parents, Princella Cole-Farrow and Amil Cole, brother, Charles Amil Cole and sister, Virginia Lynn Farrow.

She leaves behind brothers, Fred Cole, Cincinnati, Ohio; Charles Farrow, Dayton, Ohio; Tommy Farrow, Lima, Ohio; her sons Attorney Renny J. Tyson (Priscilla), Columbus, Ohio and Anthony R. Mason (Joy), Indianapolis, Indiana; stepchildren Gwendolyn Hall (Roy) of Lima, Ohio, Ronald Mason of Florence, Alabama, James Mason of Phoenix, Arizona, and Louis Mason of Minneapolis, Minnesota; grandchildren ­Renny Joe Tyson, Jr. (Javonne), Corey William Howard Tyson, Alan Eugene Louis Tyson, Asha Kamaria Burney, John Michael Mason, Miles Anthony Mason and John Irwin Butler, II, and great-grandchildren, Jahari Alexander Frierson, and Sydney Jihan Renee Tyson; a host of nieces and nephews, including Charles Farrow, III, Dayton, Ohio, Raykell Farrow, Toney Farrow and Talia Farrow, Lima, Ohio, and good friends, Betty Kars, Waukegan, Illinois; and Connie Dansby, Lima, Ohio.

Funeral service Saturday 10am First Church of God, 3480 Refugee Rd, Columbus, OH 43232, Bishop Timothy J. Clarke, officiating where the family will receive friends 9am until the time of service.
