LIMA -- Douglas Lee Howell, age 84 of Lima, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 3:55 p.m., at Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center, surrounded by his family.
He was born April 29, 1940, in Lima, to David C. and Margaret Elizabeth (Newland) Howell who preceded him in death. On June 2, 1962, he married Janet Elaine Runser who survives in Lima. He later married Karen Davis who survives in Liberty Center.
Also surviving are his daughters, Lori Soli of Venice, FL and Juli Jones of Lima; his granddaughters, Brooke (Kyle) Place of Bluffton, Morgan (Nicholas) Sanchez of Lima, and Alexis (Sean) Richardson of Lakewood Ranch, FL; and great-grandchidlren, Lochlan and Brynn Place, Rauri Richardson; his sister, Vicki Hall of Lima and sister-in-law, Beth Howell of Ada, plus many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Howell.
Douglas was a retiree from Ford Motor Company, Lima Engine Plant after 40 years, where he started working after graduating from Shawnee High School in 1958. He worked at Lima Bargain Center when he was younger, as well. He loved his family first, and OSU Buckeyes second. He was a golf fanatic and loved many other things including fishing, hunting, camping, boating and being on the water, playing tennis and golf in the Florida sun.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m., November 6, 2024 at the Shawnee Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services. His funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m., Thursday at the funeral home, with Kyle Place and Ben Thiel officiating. Burial will be in Shawnee Cemetery following the service.

Doug was a neighbor and friend on English Garden in Monclova Twp. Great guy and helped our association immensely. Sorry for your loss. How strange the secrecy of his death. RIP.
