SPENCERVILLE -- Edith Jane Wade passed away peacefully at home on November 30, 2023, in Gresham, Oregon. She was 97 years old. She was born on June 19, 1926, in Sayre, Pennsylvania, to William and Mabel McIntire. Edith was the last survivor of her generation in the family. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Floyd, sons-in-law Gary (Diane) Foster, Tom Keiffer (Nancy) and grandchild Samantha Foster.
Edith was a devoted homemaker and loving wife to her late husband, Floyd J. Wade, also known as Bud. She raised her three children in Spencerville, later obtained her GED and became an EMT-B. Edith was a founding member of the Spencerville Ambulance Squad and volunteered for them for several years. She was also a lifetime member of the Spencerville chapter of the VFW. In her later years, Edith and Bud embarked on many trips, visiting their children and family members across the country. She would later move to Portland, OR.
Edith was an active member of The Village Seventh-day Adventist Church in Gresham, OR and a former member of the Lima SDA Church. She enjoyed participating in church service and was a former Sabbath school teacher while in Lima.
In her free time, Edith found joy in camping and exploring the mountains, valleys, and coast of Washington and Oregon. She had a special affinity for Mount Hood and cherished pictures of the mountain that was displayed on the walls of her home.
Edith is survived by her daughters, Diann J. Foster of Campbellsville, KY, and Nancy J. Keiffer of Lima, OH, as well as her son Mark A. Wade (Diane) of Gresham, OR. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 11 great great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to The Village Foundation at 4501 W. Powell Blvd., Gresham, OR 97030.
There will be a visitation from 11:00-1:00 p.m. followed by funeral services for Edith at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 11, 2023 at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville, Ohio with pastor Carl Brooks officiating. Burial will take place following the service at the Spencerville Cemetery.
