ELDON MILLER
LIMA — Eldon E. Miller, age 89, went home to be with the Lord, 6:40 a.m., Friday, December 26, 2014. He was born February 23, 1925 in Lima, Ohio; the son of the late John Lawrence and Pearl Arizona Roberts Miller. He married Marian Parker, who survives in Lima.
He was a U. S. Navy Veteran, proudly serving during World War II on the USS Butler. After his time in the Navy, he worked construction with his uncle James Miller; he then went to work at Pangles Grocery and Ray's Market where he retired as the produce manager. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 1275 of Lima and a member of the Abundant Life Temple Church on 117.
Eldon was a sportsman, who loved to bow hunt with his sons and also enjoyed fishing. As he grew older he loved to meet his brother Bob at church and pray. When he prayed, you could hear him everywhere; he was a Prayer Warrior.
Survivors also include 3 sons – Philip M. (Joan) Miller of Lima; E. Wayne (Debby) Miller of Lima; Thomas L. Miller of Lima; 10 grandchildren – Sean Miller, Tim (Meagan) Miller, Krystal (Anthony) Page, Corey Miller, Joseph Miller, Leah (Russ) Bryant, Jennifer (Jesse) Ratleff, Steven Miller, Brandon (Jessi) Miller, and Nick Miller; great grandchildren – Ryley Miller, Kylee Mangini-Miller, Bella Mangini-Miller, Tayler Allen, Treaver Allen, Abbygale Allen, Paiten Page, Dakota Miller, Jase Miller, Whitli Miller, Michael Miller, Ariel Miller, Lilla Miller, Tre' Bryant, Allison Bryant, Kayla Bryant, Kiley Ratleff, Makenna Miller, Madisyn Miller and 2 due in March; Siblings – Erma (Ron, deceased) Gross of Wapakoneta; Shirley (Mike) Stanley of OK; Helen (Floyd) Gross of Wapakoneta; Ronald (Cheryl) Miller of Columbus; John (Barbara) Miller of Lima; Richard (Betty) Miller of Lima; in-laws – Bob Pitchford of Lima; Betty Miller of Lima; Sue Miller of Wapakoneta; and Shirley Miller of Cridersville.
He was preceded in death by a son Matt Alan Miller who died March 27, 2005; siblings – Mary Lou Miller, Carolyn Miller, Marcella Pitchford, Ruth Miller, Judy Stuber, Roger Miller, Larry Miller, Robert Miller, Donald Miller, Sr., Betty (Walt) Eberle.
Funeral services will begin 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 29, 2014 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Rev. Brandon Green will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima; where military rites will be observed by the V.F.W. Post 1275 of Lima.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rita's Hospice.
