DELPHOS -- Eugene A. Fischer, 89, of Delphos, passed away January 23, 2026 at The Meadows of Delphos.
He was born August 10, 1936 in Delphos to Arthur and Edna (Ellerbrock) Fischer who both preceded him in death. On August 10, 1957 he married Carolyn L. (Eggeman) Fischer who preceded him in death December 15, 2017.
Gene is survived by a son, Terry Fischer of Delphos; daughter, Janet (Jeff) Ricker of Spencerville; granddaughter, Amber (Josh Strickler) Fischer; brothers, Melvin (Marilyn Fischer of Gibson City, IL, Norm (Kathy) Fischer of Ft. Jennings, Donald (Cindy) Fischer of Maumee, David (Cheryl) Fischer of Ft. Wayne, and Daniel (Mary) Fischer of Delphos; and a sister, Marge Pohlman of Delphos
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Fischer; and brother-in-law, Ralph Pohlman.
Eugene worked at Delphos St. Jon's right out of high school. He was a lifelong farmer and electrician at Central Soya, now Bunge, for over 40 years. He retired in 2001. He and Carolyn enjoyed their winters in Florida. He was a tinkerer and helped his friends and neighbors with projects and his backhoe.
His wish was to be cremated. A private burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
