Gerald Lee Eagy Sr.
Gerald Lee Eagy Sr., 84, died at 3:43 p.m. on Monday, October 7, 2013 at Memorial Hospital, Lima, Ohio.
He was born November 8, 1928 to the late Oliver Perry Eagy, Jr. and Eva Mae Wolfe Eagy who preceded him in death.
Gerald married Evelyn L. Hasson, on August 28, 1949, who died on October 27, 1963. On March 12, 1966, he married Nancy Hall Painter, who was widowed on September 25, 1964.
Survivors include his loving wife Nancy of Elida; 8 children, Pastor Gerald L. (Sandy) Eagy Jr. of Lima, OH Jim (Becky) Eagy of Spencerville, OH, Dan (Hollie) Painter of Ft. Wayne, IN, Pastor Bob (Lynette) Eagy of Fairfax, VA, Ron (Ronda) Painter of Elida, OH, Brad (Robin) Eagy of Matthews, NC, Diane Eagy of Elida, OH and Jola (Doug) Vandemark of Elida, OH; 32 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
Gerald owned and operated G.L. Eagy Plumbing & Heating from which he retired from in 1988. He owned and operated the American Coin Laundry and the American Car Wash.
He graduated from Lima South High School in 1947. He had coached West Ohio Gas Midget football team for 8yrs in the 1950's, and was a Boy Scout Leader.
Gerald was a faithful follower of Christ for over 50 years. He was a man of Godly influence. We weep and mourn because he will be greatly missed, but we also rejoice knowing he is with our Heavenly Father and is experiencing His perfect glory. Gerald attended Grace Community Church.
Gerald and wife, Nancy, always enjoyed spending the winter months in Estero, Florida. They spent a lot of time going fishing and enjoyed having that special time together. When it was time to head back north from Florida, they would fill their cooler full of fish they caught, and have a big family fish fry in the summer. Their grandchildren and great grandchildren were always a joy to them.
Gerald was preceded in death by three brothers, Wilbur Eagy, Walter Eagy, and Oliver Eagy and two sisters, Kathleen Rabley and Ruth Dinan.
Visitation will be on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at the Grace Community Church, 4359 Allentown Rd Lima, OH from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00P.M.
Funeral service will be on Friday, October 11, 2013 at the Grace Community Church at 10:00 A.M. with his two sons, Pastor Gerald Eagy, Jr. and Pastor Bob Eagy officiating.
Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima, OH.
