HARVEY HUNSICKER
ALGER — Harvey Hunsicker, Jr. age 83, died on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at 9:18 PM at his residence in Alger.
He was born on March 28, 1931 in Hardin County, Ohio to Harvey and Ruth (Crist) Hunsicker, Sr. and they preceded him in death. On March 29, 1958 he married Glenda Lee Marshall and they were happily married for 56 years, she survives in Alger.
Harvey retired after working for 27 years from Sheller Globe of Lima as an electrician. He was a township clerk for Marion Township from 1971 until he retired in 1996. He owned and operated Hunsicker Video Store, Alger for 10 years. He attended McGuffey High School and joined the U.S. Army when he was 17. Harvey served from June 24, 1949 to August 16, 1952. During the service he was an undefeated boxer with Golden Gloves. He served during the Korean Conflict. He was a life member of the Ada VFW Post #9381. Harvey was an avid Democrat. He was very proud of his four sons.
Also surviving are four sons: Mike (Tami) Hunsicker of Alger, Steve Hunsicker of Alger, Dave (Cindy) Hunsicker of Alger and Duane (Melannie) Hunsicker of Belle Center; eight grandchildren: Travis Hunsicker, Troy (Brandi) Hunsicker, Jason Hunsicker, Jeremy Hunsicker, Chad Hunsicker, Morgan Hunsicker, Dylan Hunsicker and Haley Hunsicker; three brothers: Lewis Hunsicker of Alger, Darrell Hunsicker of Alger and Kenny (Barb) Hunsicker of Smyrna, TN; three sisters: Lenore Maddox of Florrisant, MO, Jean Kratt of Avon Lake and Marsha Sprang of Kenton; two step sisters: Pat (Kash) Allen of Alger and Jean Spurlock of Lansing, MI.
He was preceded in death by three brothers: Russell Hunsicker, Raymond Hunsicker and Sam Hunsicker; two sisters: Alice Scott and Cheryl Howard.
Friends may call on Monday, December 15, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger.
A graveside service will begin at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Preston Cemetery, Alger with Rev. James Goldsmith officiating. Graveside Military Honor's will be conducted by the Ada VFW Post #9381 Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made to charity of the donor's choice.
Arrangements are by Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger.
