LIMA — I. Ruth Geise "Mimi," 87, died at 6:24 PM on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at her residence in Lima, Ohio.
Ruth was born on January 24, 1931, in Columbus Grove, Ohio to the late Virgil Diller and Juanita (Neuenschwander) Diller. Ruth married Franklin Geise on October 7, 1950, he preceded her in death on March 8, 2009.
She was a 1949 graduate of Columbus Grove High School and a member of the Central Christian Church-Disciples of Christ Church. She worked for Gregg's Department store as a gift wrapper during the holidays, through much of the 1960's. She taught art & painting classes at the YMCA in the early 1970's. She was an avid reader of Science Fiction Novels-but loved reading any books. She loved bird watching and spending time with her flower gardens. For nearly 50 years, she was a member of a local card club group that would meet once a month to play pinochle. She loved her grandchildren, great grandchildren and their friends. She always said the sound of children's laughter made the home, a place of love.
She is survived by her children, Lynn (Laura) Geise and Janelle (Randy) Stemen, both of Lima; three grandchildren, Christopher (Kelly Kiefer) Geise from Wapakoneta, OH, Sarah Stemen, and Nick Stemen; two great grandchildren, Jeffrey Geise, and Nathan Geise; sister, Virginia Lang of Midland TX, and several nieces & nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Geise, sisters, Helen Lucas, Mary Ann Bruun and Maxine Gleason, and a brother James P. Diller.
The family will receive friends from 2-8 on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.
Other arrangements are incomplete at this time.
