JAMES COX
BELLE CENTER — James Howard Cox, 73, of Belle Center died at 7:04 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2014.
He was born Feb. 19, 1941, to the late Howard and Francis (Reed) Cox. On April 22, 1962, he married Margaret A. Purcell, who preceded him in death on Nov. 2, 2010.
James is survived by three daughters, Tina (Phillip) Lautenschlager of Belle Center, Sue (John) Daye of Ridgeway and Vonda (Dale) Cockerell of Alger; two brothers, Gene (Phyllis) Cox of Waynesfield and Reed (Marsha) Cox of Belle Center; and a sister, Peggy (Leroy) Badertscher of Roundhead. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Jared (Kellie) Lautenschlager, Jordin (fiancé Toto Kabua) Lautenschlager, Jade Lautenschlager, Colin and Kylie Turner, Reanne Daye, Gage and Colten Perkins, and Anslie Cockerell; and seven great grandchildren; Kaden, Kennedy, Holden, Aubrey, Karlee, Braylin and Brileigh and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Cox.
James retired from the City of Kenton. He also worked for Kenton Distributing. James was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and the Kenton Moose Lodge 428.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Schindewolf-Stout-Crates Funeral Home, Kenton. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's United Church of Christ with Pastor Scott Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview McDonald Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Kidney Foundation or the American Heart Association.
