LIMA -- James "Jim" Joseph Huysman, age 75 of Lima passed away 12:47 a.m Thursday, September 21, 2023, at St. Rita's Inpatient Hospice. He was born in Lima on June 5, 1948, to Earl and Beatrice (Carter) Huysman and they preceded him in death.
Jim was a dedicated employee of Ford Motor Company for 30 years. Jim was an avid sports fan, watching the Cleveland Browns and the Cincinnati Reds. One of his passions in life was being outside and working in his yard. He enjoyed a great round of golf at Tamarac in his younger days. Jim was in a softball league in his younger years. If you knew Jim, you knew his nickname was "Arrow" from hitting line drives to the outfield and his speed on the bases.
Jim is survived by three sisters, Carol A. Kohl, Joyce G. Kohl and Phyllis M. Cloyd all of Lima, his son Jason Huysman of Chicago, his daughter-in-law Donna Huysman of Lima; his grandchildren Lauren Huysman of Lima and Griffin Huysman of Chicago; his three step-daughters Allison Reeder of Lima, Amanda Fannon of Lima and Angie (Mike) Musser of Columbus and their families; many nieces and nephews along with his good friends Mark Thiesing, Joe and Jim Ruen.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers Clarence G., Eugene A., Robert H., Fred L., and Ralph E. Huysman, his sister Betty E. Yant, his son Scott Huysman and his special friend Sue Kline.
His family wishes to express their gratitude to St. Rita's Inpatient Hospice and their Cancer Center for the care provided to Jim.
Funeral services will begin at 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at the Shawnee Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Rita's Hospice.

So sorry to hear about Jim! He was truly "one of the good guys". I've known him since his early Ford days & their softball team. Loved to watch them play! He always had a smile on his face and a good word for everyone! He & my brother, Mark were great friends - always lending a 'helping hand' to each other whenever it was needed!
