CRIDERSVILLE — James Joseph 'Jim' Patton, Jr., age 84 of Cridersville formerly of Fostoria, passed at 11:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at St. Rita's Medical Center's Emergency Room, Lima. He was born September 2, 1934 in Walbridge, Ohio to the late James Joseph and Nanny Gertrude (Sawyer) Patton, Sr. On March 20, 1952 he married Doris Mae Fout, who survives.
Jim had pastored at The House of God Church and had attended the True Word Tabernacle Church in Bluffton. He had worked at Lima Armature Works in sales. His hobbies included wood working, hunting, western movies, history and the western states, and he was an Ohio State Buckeye fan. He will be remembered for his faith in serving the Lord, the encouragement he brought to others, his laughter and never knowing a stranger, he was also a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Also surviving are 2 sons - Ronald Eugene (Laurie) Patton of AZ; Kenneth James Patton of Columbus, OH; 2 daughters - Ardella Lynn (Ronald) Jones of Lima; Belinda June (Bill) Rice of Findlay; 17 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; 2 brothers - Bob (Diane, dec.) Patton of FL; and Bill Patton of FL.
He was preceded in death by a sister - Phyllis Patton.
Memorial services will begin 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Pastor Erikson will officiate. Military rites will be observed by the V.F.W. Post 1275 of Lima.
The family will receive friends from one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the NRA, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Wounded Warriors.

To the family of Jim Patton I am so sorry to hear of his passing he will be missed very much I will always remember his smile he was a very sweet guy if there is anything I can do just let me know the Patton family means a lot to us

Mrs.Patton, I am so sorry to hear of your husband's passing. I worked at St Rita's in the Out Patient department when he would come in for testing. He was always smiling and making sure to make everyone laugh. May God bless you and your family.
