Jan Butler Obituary

LIMA -- Jan D. Butler, 67, passed away on September 27, 2022, at 1:05 pm, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

Jan was born December 8, 1954 in Lima, OH, to Arthur Butler and Annabelle (Hollar) Butler-Stinebaugh who both preceded him in death. On July 22, 2000 he married Debbie (Wright) Butler who survives in Lima, OH.

Jan graduated from Lima Senior High School in 1974. He then attended Northwestern Business College and received an associates degree in Auto Mechanics. Jan loved working on transmissions and was very thorough and meticulous in his craft. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing and working with his buddy Paul Slygh. He was heavily involved with the Lima Mixed-Doubles Pool League. Jan was a very outgoing kind of guy and enjoyed people and never knew a stranger. He always found the good in people. He loved his wife dearly and cherished his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jan is survived by his wife, Debbie Butler of Lima, OH, children, Danny (Leah) Butler of Lima, OH, Michael (Danielle Wireman) Butler of Lima, OH, Nicole (David) Fyffe of Lima, OH, Jodi (Mike) Hicks of Cincinnati, OH, Julie (Kyle) Monfort of Lima, OH, Hilleary Black of Lima, OH, brother, Randy (Linda) Butler of Mikado, MI, sister-in-law, Billy Butler of Lima, OH, grandchildren, Whitney (Jonathan) Swaney of Lima, OH, Audrey Butler of Thomasville, GA, Jan Dean "Bubba" (Ruthie) Butler of Lima, OH, Taylor (Tyra Goins) Fyffe of Lima, OH, Kylie Fyffe of Lima, OH, Ava Hicks, Aiden Hicks, Kayden Hicks, Camden Monfort, Reagan Monfort, Destanie Makin, great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Ella, Autumn, Milo, Lydia, Markess, Lewie, Savannah and Lariah.

He is preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Sue Ann Butler, siblings, Judy (James) McPheron, Arthur "Jay" Butler, Gary Butler, Bill Butler, and Annette (Mark) Voehringer.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at 1:30pm at Lima First Church, 1660 Findlay Road, Lima, Ohio 45801. Pastor Darrell Bucher to officiate the service. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.

Visitation will be at the church on Monday, October 3, 2022 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm and one hour prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family during this difficult time. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.

So sorry for your loss. I am Bill Stinebaugh's granddaughter (Diana Stinebaugh's daughter). Jan has worked on a few of my cars. And always had time to catch up too. Though we weren't technically related, we always treated each other like we were. A great, great guy!
