OTTAWA – Janet Ruth Recker, 86, of Ottawa, passed away at 10:08 p.m. on Friday, June 24, 2022, at the Meadows of Ottawa. She was born December 7, 1935, in New Bavaria to the late Eldred and Julia (Eiden) Brown. On August 1, 1953, she married Carl Recker, he preceded her in death on September 24, 2004.
Janet is survived by three children: Rick (Sharon) Recker of Angola, IN., Carla (Kevin) Lammers of Waterville, and Cheryl (Dave) Ellerbrock of Columbus Grove; ten grandchildren: Julie Closson, Carrie Vorst, Brian Recker, Tyler Recker, Kye Recker, Anthony Lammers, Tyler Lammers, Taylor Ellerbrock, Alyssa Ellerbrock and Luke Ellerbrock; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a sister: Rosalie Kaple of Ottawa; a brother: Edwin (Lyn) Brown of Hicksville; and a sister-in-law: Verna Hohenbrink of Leipsic.
She is also preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Sebring.
Janet was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa. She had worked as a meat department clerk for Kohl's Market, Ottawa. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Father Scott Kramer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will also be held on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of mass at the church.
