COLUMBUS GROVE -- Jean E. Bixel, 92, of Columbus Grove, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025, at 11:20 AM at Suncoast Hospice in Palm Harbor, Florida. She was born on February 23, 1933, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Wilbur and Fannie Miller. On December 26, 1953, she married David L. Bixel, who preceded her in death on February 15, 2019.
She was richly blessed with three children, all of whom survive: Kimberly (Robert) Creely, Columbus Grove; Kris (the late John) Garner, New Port Richey, FL; and Lori Owsley (Bruce) Zeit, Homosassa, FL. She was a loving grandmother to Zach Wilkins, Cory Wilkins, McKenzie Rudy, Santina Garner, Cole Garner, and Levi Owsley; a proud great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She is also preceded in death by sister, Llewellyn Tingley.
Jean graduated from Shawnee High School and Fredricks Beauty College. She managed her very own shop, "Jean's Beauty Shop". The best job she performed was being a homemaker and the best mother to her 3 girls. Jean enjoyed camping, playing cards, gardening, attending football games, and spending time with her family. Jean was also a great roller skater; she skated for many years at the Dixie Roller Rink and was in many competitions in the pair's events.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Hartman-Rousculp Community Funeral Home 10879 SR OH-12 Columbus Grove with visitation one hour prior. Burial service to follow at Truro Cemetery. Visitation will also be on Monday, November 10, 2025, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.
