OTTAWA – John A. "Jack" Diemer, 82, of Ottawa, passed away at 10:13 a.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at The Meadows of Kalida. He was born May 30, 1941 in Lima to the late Albert and Agnes (Fischer) Diemer. On July 24, 1965, he married Catharine Warniment, who survives in Ottawa.
Other survivors include three children: Neil (Connie) Diemer of Ottawa and Amanda (Greg) Kuhlman of Glandorf and Ida (Davis) Hussey of Myrtle Beach, NC; six grandchildren: Dereck (Jessica) Meyer, Shaeley (Aaron) Flores, Logan Diemer, Kiersten Kuhlman, Davis Hussey, Jr. and Anna Hussey; two great-grandchildren: Karson Meyer and Kinsley Meyer; two sisters: Liz Murray of Toledo and Barb Diemer of Ottawa; and a sister-in-law, Alice Diemer of Glandorf.
He is also preceded in death by three brothers: Bert (Helen) Diemer, Roger Diemer and Don Diemer; and a sister, Janet Dulle.
Jack retired from Philips, Ottawa and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. After retirement, he worked for Ottawa Feed and Grain. For years, Jack also owned and operated "Jack's," a small engine repair shop. He was a veteran of the U.S. National Guard during the Vietnam War. Jack was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Ottawa and Ottawa Eagles. He played the roll of Hank Williams Jr. in the Caravan of Stars. Jack loved spending time with friends and family.
Funeral Mass will begin 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 16, 2023 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Scott Kramer officiating. Military rites by the Ottawa VFW, American Legion, Amvets and DAV will follow mass. Burial will be at a later date at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 - 7 p.m. on Sunday and one hour prior to mass on Monday at Love Funeral Home, Ottawa. There will be a scripture service at 6:50 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the Putnam County Council on Aging. Condolences may be expressed at www.lovefuneralhome.com.

To Jack's family. May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived. I knew Jack from delivering to the Ottawa Feed & Grain for SWD. I would also see him regularly @ Car-E-It playing his scratch off lottery tickets. Jack was a very good dude!
