FT. MEYERS, FL -- John Vincent Schiffler, age 86 passed away March 9, 2025, in Fort Myers, Florida. He was born May 2, 1938, in Muncie, Indiana, to Vincent Ellsworth Schiffler and Julia Elizabeth Schiffler who preceded him in death. John was married to the love of his life, Carol (Donnelly) Schiffler who preceded him in death on October 16, 2020. As a couple they enjoyed life to its fullest and spent twenty-one years in Fort Myers, Florida.
John graduated from Lima Senior High School in 1956. He worked at The Ohio State University Lima campus for thirty years. He was a passionate Ohio State fan and held season tickets for forty years. John stayed physically fit throughout his life and worked out five days a week. He loved coaching and supporting his children and grandchildren at sporting events. In addition, he coached The Ohio State University Lima basketball team for several years.
John was a member of the following churches St. Charles and St. Rose Parishes in Lima, Ohio and St. Columbkille in Fort Myers, Florida.
John is survived by his five children, Joseph Schiffler, John (Marilyn Burnworth) Schiffler, Cristy (Larry) Vonderembse, Greg (Shelly Mooney) Schiffler, Kamila (Joseph) Guagenti and fourteen grandchildren, thirty-four great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Jeannie Lambert (Russell Phillips) and brother in-law and sister-in-law Donald and Linda Donnelly. John dearly missed his wife and was looking forward to being reunited with her. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, but they will always cherish the treasured memories.
The family will arrange a celebration of life gathering at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Rose Catholic Church, 523 N. West Street, Lima, Ohio 45801.

John was a very dear friend of my sister Jackie Fitzgerald. That´s how I met him and I thought he was an absolutely wonderful man. I knew Carol also threw Jackie. I remember so many memories of them being at their house and having some great conversations. May he rest in peace
