Katlyn Laudick Obituary

OTTAWA — Katlyn (Katie) N. Laudick. Our beautiful daughter, Katie, 28, passed away at home November 19, 2021 at 11:08 a.m. surrounded by her family, after a courageous five-year battle with Ewing's Sarcoma.

Katie was born January 19, 1993 in Lima, Ohio to Joseph and Ann (Kelley) Laudick and they survive in Ottawa. Katie is also survived by her brothers Matt (Amber) Laudick of Glandorf and Jay (Bre) Laudick of Findlay. She is also survived by her favorite people in the whole world, nephew and niece Max and Maci Laudick. The depth of Katie's love for her family was endless, and spending time with them was the most precious thing in the world to her.

Other survivors include her paternal grandparents Richard and Jeanette Laudick, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, especially her aunt Mary Kelley, with whom Katie had an extra-special relationship and who helped care for her in her final days, along with three very special cousins, Megan Lee, Elizabeth Kahle and Anna Kahle, who were like sisters to Katie.

Katie was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Max and Betty Jane Kelley, along with a special great aunt Rose Mary Laubenthal.

Katie was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ottawa. She graduated from Ottawa-Glandorf High School in 2011 and the University of Findlay in 2015. Katie was a junior high math teacher, having taught at Ada Schools and most recently at Finland Middle School in Columbus. Teaching was a passion for Katie and she cared deeply for her students, especially those who needed a little extra TLC.

Any beach was Katie's favorite vacation spot, and her parent's backyard pool was where she spent many summer afternoons with family and friends. She had a beautiful way with words, writing a blog that could make you laugh and cry, all in the same paragraph. Among her favorite ways to spend her time were playing the guitar, swimming, entertaining her nephew and niece and cheering for her favorite sports teams: OSU Buckeyes, Columbus Blue Jackets, Chicago Cubs, and the Ottawa-Glandorf Titans. Katie had a large collection of baseball caps from around the world, thanks to her Uncle Dan, but her favorite hat was her 2016 Chicago Cubs World Series Championship cap.

Her family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Chen and his team at The James Cancer Hospital and to the many doctors and nurses at The James who provided treatments with care and compassion. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Sharon Cole and staff for the love and care they showered upon Katie. They never failed to make her feel special. Lastly, thanks and appreciation to the Putnam County Home Health and Hospice nurses, especially Laura, who also treated Katie with such warmth and tenderness.

Funeral mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Father Rick Friebel officiating. The mass will be livestreamed on Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church's Facebook page. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Out of respect for Katie and her family, MASKS ARE REQUIRED during visitation and the funeral mass. Arrangements are under the direction of LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.

To honor Katie's memory, memorial donations may be made to Putnam County Cancer Assistance Program, Box 165, Glandorf, OH 45848 or Steps for Sarcoma, Fund 314006, 241 W 11th Ave, Columbus, OH 43201
