Kristen Shoemaker Obituary
LIMA -- Kristen Lee Shoemaker, 52, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 12, 2022, surrounded by the love of her family. Kristen was born on January 5, 1970 in Lima, Ohio to the late Carroll and Barbara (Grafton) Shoemaker who survives in Lima, OH.
She is survived by her five children: Jenna Houston (Seth Collins), Abbigail Houston, Sean Houston, Gabriel Butler and Gavin Butler; one granddaughter: Conley Collins; three sisters: Sue (Dan) Peggs, Julie (Mark) Pantello, and Lisa (Greg) Cogley; her mother, Barbara; fiancé: Joe Bakies; former husband, Joseph Houston; several nieces and nephews: Rob, Scott and Eric Peggs, Matthew and Nathaniel Bucher, Adam and Elliott Good, Nicole (Shoemaker) Moor, Amanda and Renee Cogley, and Jordan (Cogley) Lackey; and several great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Carroll, brother, Steve and sister in-law, Sue.
Kristen graduated from Bath High School in 1988 and was a proud graduate of The Ohio State University. She loved spending time with her children and granddaughter. She was an avid make-it-from-scratch cook, had a love of reading and always enjoyed a chilly, sunny morning on her fiancés patio. She is the youngest of her siblings and was adored as 'their baby'. She was incredibly proud of her children and cherished being her granddaughter's 'Gammie'. Kristen lit up every room she walked into, never knowing a stranger. With an infectious smile, warm laugh and sparkling eyes, she touched the hearts of every person she met.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at 12:00pm at CHILES - LAMAN FUNERAL HOMES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Pastor Ed Rinehart to officiate the service.
Visitation will be on Monday, August 22, 2022 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the SHAWNEE CHAPEL.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, memorial contributions may be made to the family during this difficult time.

I want to extend my love and sympathy to the family. Kris was an incredible friend to me. She always helped out with whatever anyone needed. She called me Sis, and I was so honored to have her in my life and in our family. This is an unbelievable loss. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for any of you.
