WAPAKONETA -- Mabel Alma Jackson, 96, of Wapakoneta, passed away 6:55 a.m. November 3, 2022 at Vancrest of St. Marys. She was born on July 30, 1926, in St. Marys, to Otto C. & Alma Lehmann Althoff, who have preceded her in death. On October 11, 1945, she married Charles W. Jackson, who passed away on November 10, 2002.
Survivors include her two daughters, Charlene "Char" (David) Curry and Marsha Jackson, both of Wapakoneta; five grandchildren, Leeann (Derrick) Whetstone, Deanna (Matthew) Ronan, Lisa (Ned) Kirby, Charles Curry, Richard Curry; six great-grandchildren, Brock (Adrian) Whetstone, Amanda (LaVare Daniel) Whetstone, Kylie and Kaitlynne Ronan, Noah and Hannah Kirby; six great-great-grandchildren, Aidan and Lainey Whetstone, Isaiah Whetstone, Ryleigh and Remington Parks, Se'Vie Tre Daniel and a sister, Virginia Sollmann.
She was preceded in death by siblings, Helen (Robert) Huttis, Muriel (John) Rogge, Earl (Kathy) Althoff, Nathan (Joan) Althoff and brother-in-law, Earl Sollman.
Valedictorian of her class, Mabel graduated from St. Marys Memorial High School in 1944. She was a member of First English Lutheran Church, the Merry Makers Club, and the Rebekah Lodge #391 of Spencerville. Mabel enjoyed working crossword puzzles and playing cards, especially euchre. She also loved dancing and playing with her grandchildren.
Services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 11, 2022 at First English Lutheran Church, Wapakoneta. Please use the South Entrance at church. Vicar Deb Monnin and Pastor Cheryl Brown will co-officiate and interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services and one hour prior to the services Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First English Lutheran Church or EverHeart Hospice.
