Margaret Mefferd

1933 - 2024

LIMA -- Margaret A. "Peggy" Mefferd, age 91, passed away on July 4, 2024, at 1:30 am, at Otterbein Perrysburg. Peggy was born May 11, 1933, in Lima, OH, to the late Henry and Margaret (Michael) Cardone. On June 17, 1951, she married Richard E. Mefferd who preceded her in death on December 26, 2002.

Peggy is survived by her children: David (Lydia) Mefferd of Perrysburg, OH, Joseph (Susan) Mefferd of The Villages, FL and Bradley (Kathy) Mefferd of Perrysburg, OH, her grandchildren: Bart (Molly) Mefferd, Steve (Andrea) Mefferd, Mike (Emily) Mefferd, Alison Mefferd, Adam Mefferd, Kelsey Mefferd, Jason Mefferd and Eric Mefferd, 7 great grandchildren, a sister, Nelda Cardone of Lima, OH and a sister in-law, Jean Ann Cardone of Cincinnati, OH. She was preceded in death by a grandchild, Nate Mefferd, siblings: Charles 'Buzz' Cardone, Mary Jane (Charles) Smith, Betty (Jack) Archer, Patricia (Bernie) Schenk, Flora (Bud) DeVoe and an infant sister, Christina Marie Cardone.

Peggy was a 1951graduste of Lima South High School. She had worked for a short time in financial services in the Lima area. She spent her life taking great pride in being a dedicate wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. Peggy was a long-time member of Shawnee United Methodist Church. She enjoyed music, watching movies and reading books.

There will be a funeral service held on Monday, July 8, 2024 at 12 noon at the Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel. Officiating the service will be Dave Belton. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery following the service.

Friends may visit on Monday from 10:00 am until the service at 12 noon. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shawnee United Methodist Church. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
