Marilyn Green Obituary
ADA — Marilyn Green, age 83, died on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 1:34 PM at Community Hospital South Emergency Room in Indianapolis, Indiana.
She was born on September 7, 1934 in Logan County, Ohio to Howard G. and Doris M. (Cronkleton) Elliott who preceded her in death. She was formerly married to Max Green and he survives in Bellefontaine, OH.
Marilyn worked as a legal secretary for Charles VanDyne Law Office in Ada for over 50 years. She formerly was a co-owner and ran the Ada Dairy Queen that later became Green Dairy in Ada from 1957-1977. In 1972 she became a co-owner of the Ada Dairy. Marilyn was a graduate of East Liberty High School and later took computer training from the Apollo Career Center. She was a member of the former Quatre Club of Ada where she held numerous offices. She was a current member and past president of the Ada Kiwanis Club and a member of the Kenton Elks Lodge #157. She was also a member of the Ada Christmas decoration committee and the Harvest and Herb Festival Committee. Marilyn formerly attended the Ada First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her two sons: Greg Green of Ft. Myers Beach, FL and Kent Green of Zanesfield, OH; a brother, John (Carmel) Elliott of Bellefontaine, OH; and her significant other, Charles VanDyne of Ada; and several nieces and nephews.
Marilyn was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Kerr.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 6, 2017 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada with Deacon J. Michael Hood officiating. Burial will be in Rushsylvania Cemetery, Rushsylvania, OH.
Friends may call from 2:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada and until time of service on Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Freed Center for the Performing Arts C/O Ohio Northern University Office of University Advancement at 525 South Main Street, Ada, Ohio 45810 and/or the Hardin County Community Foundation, P.O. Box 343, Kenton, Ohio 43326. Condolences can be expressed at www.hansonneely.com

Marilyn was one of he most gracious and charming women I have ever encountered. Her warm laugh, her capacity to make every one feel special, and her generous nature lit up the lives of all who were privileged to be graced by her friendship. I had the privilege to meet and travel to Branson with Marilyn & Charles this last week. We had a fantastic time. Marilyn was an amazing lady who always had a huge smile on her face. She always greeted me each day with a warm squeeze of my arm and asked how I was doing. She was so much fun and made me laugh through out the week. I will remember her sweet spirit and her smile.
Please accept my heartfelt sympathy on the loss of such an amazing lady.
