Marilyn Weber Obituary

OTTAWA -- Marilyn Mae (Doepker) Weber was born August 26, 1934, in Ottawa, Ohio to the late Norman and Mathilda (Nartker) Doepker. On November 10 2025, at 12:40 a.m., Marilyn, 91, passed into God's Hands at The Meadows of Ottawa. On July 13, 1957, Marilyn married the love of her life, Thomas Charles Weber, at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Ottawa. They were married for 43 years, until Tom's death on August 2, 2000.

Left to cherish memories of Marilyn are: her daughter, Anne Marie Jones (Steve) of Summerville, South Carolina; three sons: Thomas C. of Findlay, Robert S. (Julie) of Taylors, South Carolina and Paul A. (Michelle) of Westerville; and German exchange student son, Lars Borchert of Berlin, Germany; 10 grandchildren: Alexander Jones (Jennifer) of New Albany, Luke Jones and Caleb Jones of Summerville, South Carolina, Deidra Alston (Joshua) of Baltimore, Maryland, Derek Weber (Sandra) of Indian Land, South Carolina, Jessica Moyles and Courtney Weber (Drew Zemaitis) of Taylors, South Carolina, Cory Karhoff of Columbus, Cole Weber (Grace Earley) and Carter Weber of Westerville; 5 great-grandchildren: Kai, Amaya and Ian Alston, Liam Jones and Hayden Weber; sisters: Ruth Tesmond of Chicago and Molly Weisgerber of Surprise, AZ; sisters-in-law: Anita Doepker Swary, Joan Doepker, both of Ottawa, and Arleen Weber of Gilbert, AZ; and brother-in-law, Virgil (Nancy) Hohlbein of Ottoville.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Thomas C. Weber Sr.; and family members: Donald & Martha Doepker, William Doepker, Norman & Lois Doepker, Thomas Doepker, Patricia & John Macke, Stanley & Grace Weber, James Weber, John & Patricia Weber, Louis & Ruth Weber, Marie & George Lubeley and JoAnn Hohlbein.

A graduate of Saints Peter and Paul High School in Ottawa, Marilyn was devoted to her Catholic faith. Since 2002, as a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, she served as Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, Mass Lector, Minister of Praise, Funeral Mass Server, Distributor of Communion to Shut-ins, Member of Grief Ministry and Co-Leader of the Prayer Chain.

Marilyn belonged to Glandorf St. John the Baptist Catholic Church from 1957 until 2002, where she served as a Religious Education Teacher, Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, Mass Lector, Member (past president) of Glandorf St. John Altar Rosary Society, Liturgy Leader, Renew Leader and was actively involved in Christ Renews His Parish. With her husband Tom, Marilyn was the Marriage Preparation Coordinator, actively involved in Marriage Encounter and Precious Blood Companions. One of her most treasured accomplishments, Marilyn completed the Lay Ministry Program through the Diocese of Toledo on June 7, 1987. She was grateful to share her faith with the next generation and will be remembered as a generous and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Marilyn actively served her community. She was an elected member of the Putnam County Educational Services Governing Board, served as Secretary/Legal Bookkeeper (part-time) at the Putnam County Sentinel for 15 years, was Calculator Operator at Marathon Oil Company, was the area Welcome Wagon Hostess and a Waitress at the Glandorf Inn. She was a Member of the Putnam County Historical Society, a Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Awards Chairperson, and Past Secretary of Glandorf Elementary PTA.

She was dedicated fan of the Ottawa Glandorf Titans and before that the Glandorf Dragons. A lover of music, she enjoyed being part of the Golden Stepper Dance Group and was part of the Red Hat Society. She relished playing cards with family and friends and was a fierce Mahjongg Player. Marilyn felt she was a winner because she was a winner in marriage. She loved God and her family above all things. Her greatest delight in life were her grandchildren & great-grandchildren.
