MARK OSTING
EUDORA, Kan. — Mark S. "Spyder" Osting, 58, passed away peacefully October 1, 2015 at home in Eudora, Kansas.
He was born November 17, 1956 in Delphos, Ohio to Kenneth and Carolyn (O'Connor) Osting, who are deceased. On April 26, 1993 he married Lisa Bryan who survives in Eudora, Kansas.
Mark graduated from Delphos St. John's. He was a retired iron worker. Mark felt most at home in the woods, trapping, hunting and fishing. Mark was known as "The King of the Kaw" to his Kansas friends and family. His respect for people and their land gained him permission on many occasions to share memorable hunting experiences with his close friends and family. Morel mushroom season found Mark in the woods finding a mother lode when no one else could.
Old timers took him under their wings and he embraced their knowledge with great respect. He enjoyed sharing that wisdom with everyone he encountered. He may have shown a rough exterior but he had the biggest, most gentle heart. He would always go out of his way for anyone in need without judgment and never expect anything in return. Mark had the ability to communicate and gain trust from animals in his own way. He was symbiotic with nature and leaves behind his beloved companion, Katie.
Survivors include three brothers; David (Sharon) Osting of Van Wert, Kevin (Leila) Osting of Delphos, Patrick (Cheri) Osting of Elida; two sisters Carol (Brent) Hammons of Elida and JoAnn (Garry) Stewart of Delphos; two brothers-in-law, Philip (Kelli) Bryan of Redmond, WA and Robert Bryan of Blue Springs, MO; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Jean Bryan, mother-in-law, Thelma (Murray) Bryan and sister-in law Shelley Bryan.
Mark requested to be cremated with no services.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Catholic School, Delphos, OH or the humane or wildlife institution of your choice.
