LIMA -- Michael M. Nolte, age 72 of Lima, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at his residence.
He was born June 27, 1952, in Napoleon, OH, to Milden and Mary (Mengerink) Nolte who preceded him in death. On March 17, 1978, he married D. Lou Edwards Nolte who preceded him in death on June 25, 1997. He later married Cynthia Gillispie Nolte on May 7, 1990, and she passed on June 1, 2024.
Survivors include his children: Adrienne (Joseph) L. Terry of Lima, Erin (Tony) Sommer of Erwin, TN, Samantha Nolte and Kyle (Tara) Nolte both of Lima; his stepchildren: Charles McDonald and Megan McDonald both of Lima; his siblings, Tom Nolte, Cinda Eickholt and Kerri Jo Hensle, plus nine grandchildren and four step grandchildren. His best friend, Deb Burrell, survives in Lima.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Nolte.
Mike was a 1970 graduate of Elida High School and then served in Thailand with U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era. He retired as the Allen County Veterans Service Officer in 2013. He worked at Elida Machine and Tool since graduating high school. He also owned a cleaning company. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 1275, was in their Honor Detail and in their Golden Rifles. He was a also a member of the American Legion Post 96, Lima and the AMVETS Post 333 in Wapakoneta. He was an avid fan of all sports, especially the Bengals.
A visitation will be held on November 1, 2024 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Shawnee Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services. On Saturday, November 2, 2024, a committal service will be held at Gethsemani Cemetery beginning at 11:30 a.m., with military rites by the U.S. Air Force and V.F.W. Post 1275.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans Food Pantry of Northwest Ohio, 810 W. North St., Lima, OH 45801.

My deepest sympathy to Mike's family. I met with Mike occasionally at his spot at the American Legion. We enjoyed visiting with each other and playing keno. He will be missed by many. May God Bless his soul.
