Orville Compton Obituary

ORVILLE COMPTON

LIMA — Orville "Butch" Compton, 72, of Lima, passed away surrounded by his loving family at 5:47 PM on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at The Ohio State Medical Center, Columbus.

He was born on October 24, 1942 in Bowling Green, OH to Richard and Mary (Rhodes) Compton, who both preceded him in death. On October 9, 1965, he married Phyllis A. Johnson, who preceded him in death on April 21, 2011.

Butch was a member of the Eagle's Aerie 370 and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, camping and bowling. He loved family gatherings and his number one priority was his family. He was loved by all and will be sadly missed.

Surviving are his four sons Darren E. Compton, Orville E. Compton, Jr., Nickolas Compton and Christopher Compton all of Lima; his four daughters , Missy (Ed) Carpenter of Lima, Susan (Carl) Stephens of Lima, Angela (Carl) Miller of Ft. Jennings and Tonia (Guylin) Jones of Lima; his seventeen grandchildren; his eight great-grandchildren; his nine sisters Karen (Danny) Wireman, Bonnie Stauffer, Doris (Tim) Stevenson, Tina (Marcus) Lori, Judy (Marion) Bowers, Gladys (Gus) Lawrence, Donna Overholser, Betty Holbrook and Dixie Hahn; his two brothers Joe and Jerry Compton.

He was preceded in death by a grandson Guylin S. Jones, Jr.; his two brothers Bob and Francis Compton.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 25, 2015 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES EASTSIDE CHAPEL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 26, 2015 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES EASTSIDE CHAPEL.

Interment will be in Ward Cemetery.

So sorry for your loss. Heather & I tried to come to the funeral home but the roads were too bad and we turned around and came home. 4pm. We loved Butch and he will be greatly missed. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
