Pat Killian Obituary

LIMA -- Pat Killian (73) of Lima passed away on Thursday morning, December 12th, surrounded by his loving family. Pat had suffered long enough from a battle with dementia. He will be missed by all who came to know him from his lifetime living in Lima.

Pat was born on February 13th, 1951 as the oldest child of George and Norlene Killian (Guthrie). Pat loved being the oldest of the 5 kids. He was the self appointed ruler of the household when the parents weren't around.

As a child, Pat was a paperboy for the Lima News in the 60's which resulted in some of the best stories that our family told many times over. He was one of the earlier employees at the DQ on Allentown Rd. After graduating from LCC in 1969, he hitch hiked back and forth to Ft. Wayne International School of Business where he graduated with a degree in Business Mgmt. From there he spent nearly his entire career employed by West Ohio Gas Co./ Dominion Energy in many positions. He was an avid exercise enthusiast. He ran and completed one of the first Columbus marathons and spent an incredible amount of time at the local YMCA where he met many lifelong friends. He was a diehard fan of the Detroit Tigers and The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. Of note….He was very indifferent to the Guardians and the Buckeyes. He was also an accomplished bowler for many years in Lima.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Danny. He is survived by his two children; Maggie Vega (Octavio) of Chicago and Jordan Killian (Beth) of Pittsburgh. Maggie and Oc blessed him with 3 grandchildren; Nora Rose, and twins Kian and Rowan. He is also survived by his 3 siblings; sisters Barb Singer (Rob) of Lima, Beverly Carder (Tim) of Lima, and brother Mike (Dianne) of Worthington. Many nieces and nephews will miss Pat's sense of humor and constant smile.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Monday, December 16, 2024 at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Funeral & Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel, 1170 Shawnee Road, Lima.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at St. Rose Catholic Church, 523 N. West Street, Lima.

Interment will be in Gethsemani Cemetery.

A special thanks to the wonderful staff at Kessler Estates and St. Rita's Hospice who provided Pat with gentle care through the most difficult times. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Pat's name can be made to St. Rose Catholic Church or St. Rita's Hospice.

May his soul and the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace. I knew Pat from high school. He was in the class behind me, was always friendly and always had a smile. Years later I would see him at the YMCA quite often. He will be missed by all that knew him.
