Randy Camper

1951 - 2022

LIMA -- Randy Lynn Camper, age 70 of Lima, passed away suddenly Thursday, April 21, 2022, at 6:34 am, in the emergency room at Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center.

He was born December 20, 1951 in Lima to Wilbur and Margy Jo (Army) Camper who preceded him in death. On December 23, 1992 he married Sherrie Phillips Camper who survives.

He was a 1970 graduate of Shawnee High School. He was an avid fisherman, enjoying fishing trips to Canada with his father. He enjoyed spending time in the kitchen with his mother, where he developed his love of cooking. Randy became a chef and owned, along with his wife, Temptations Restaurant. He had also worked as a chef at Mr. B's, the Elks and the Eagles.

For over 40 years, he owned Modern Rarities, dealing in precious metals & was a numismatist. In addition, he worked for several nationally known, coin grading services.

In 2006, he was awarded volunteer of the year for Recovery Services at ACI and in 2007 was awarded volunteer of the year for ACI. He was a friend of Bill W. with over 25 years of sobriety.

He is survived by his four legged child, Mia and his siblings: Donald (Laurie) Eugene Camper of Lima, David Wayne Camper of Willoughby, OH and Cathy Sue (George) Camper-Azmy of Walled Lake, MI, plus many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews of which he dearly loved.

He is preceded in death by his four legged children, Sasha & Hali.

Visitation will begin at Noon, Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at the Shawnee Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services. His service will begin at 1:00 p.m., in the funeral home, with Rev. Terri Wies-Haithcock officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of his mother, Margy Camper.
