LIMA — Robert "Bo" J. Contini peacefully closed his eyes on November 3, 2017 and joined his high school sweetheart, Eileen Mattevi Contini, who preceded him in death. Born June 9, 1933 in Dover, Ohio, Bo was the eldest son of Casper and Rose (Tornabene) Contini.
Many knew Bo for his golf career in Lima, his community involvement and his generosity of time and money, but more importantly, he was known by his family as simply - Dad, Grandpa, Godfather, and Mr. C.
Bo's days and nights were consumed as an Owner/Operator Golf Pro at Hawthorne Hills Golf Course but he always made time to slip away to watch one of the kids/grandkids in various sports or to take a "paste your hair on" boat ride. He quietly donated sports equipment to kids that had no other means to obtain it; he was instrumental in campaigning for and completing the LCC Sports Field. There was Golf Talk with Bo Contini - the art of teaching a new technique to improve your game in 5 minutes or less. Literally hundreds of kids will remember their first job at Hawthorne Hills and the mentoring they received, the work ethic they developed and the financial independence only a 12 year old can feel with $50 in their pocket.
Bo lettered in all sports at St. Joseph High School, Class of 1952, in Dover, Ohio. He was an apprentice florist in his early years and could create beautiful arrangements. While he didn't care to dance that much, our mother could always persuade him to join in a few. His favorite song to sing her was "Let Me Call You Sweetheart".
Bo was a proud, involved member and contributor to many organizations: CIAO, The Elks, The Knights of Columbus, PGA Golf Professionals, The Eagles, St. Charles Borromeo, LCC, and St. Rita's Gold Club. Many honors and awards were bestowed upon him but he remained a humble man. The greatest gift he and our family received was the kidney of his youngest son, Steve.
Bo was a loving and protective father to: Sue Contini (John Taviano), Noreen (Don) Inglis, Rick (Therese) Contini, Steve (Tina) Contini, and Shelly Contini. He was a proud and very generous grandfather to: Brian, Ben, Bethany, Josh (Sara), Jaclyn (Udo), Lindsay (Brandon), Maria, Anthony and Sebastian. Great-grandfather to: Drew, Alivia, Sophia, Abbi, Lucia, Greta, Polly, Calvin and Colt.
He is also survived by his brother, Ron (Sandy) Contini, brother-in-laws, Andy Yosick and Buster Heck.
Bo was preceded in death by his eldest son Robert A. Contini and a sister Joanne Yosick.
No words can ever convey the gratitude the family has for our Dad's caregivers. The last few years were made so much better for him by having you in his life. For Dr. Imler, Kim Stevely, and all the many close family friends, Thank You.

Dear family, Your parents were my 1st employers. I was raised on Shearin Ave and gradusted 1957, in BHS's first class. Your mom trusted me with your 2 oldest siblings on Sat, while she grocery shopping etc. I'm so sorry I missed a golden opportunity when they offered to teach me the game and supply allI would need. Also was taken to Bluffton where I looked after your Mast cousins and your Matavi cousins. I was so blessed and now I pray God's peace and comfort on each family member! There are no words to express how much I loved Mr. C. He contributed so much to me and my family not only by his generosity but also by his patience, kindness, understanding and sound business advice. Mr. C. was always there working to help us figure out our own answers. He was truly a great man. My heart is broken. Lisa

Our prayers are with you at this time- Bo, or "Mr C" as my boys referred to him was such an inspiration. He gave our boys Jake and Adam their first jobs as his personal gardener. They learned many life lessons from him and absolutely adored him. We were so thankful for him as an employer. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
