Robert Decker Obituary
ROBERT DECKER
VAN WERT — Robert A. Decker, Sr., 91, of Van Wert and formerly of Elida, passed away at 7:30 AM on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Van Wert Manor Nursing Home.
He was born on April 7, 1923 in Lima to John W. and Jennie (Mowery) Decker. On October 19, 1941, he married Marjorie J. Reed who preceded him in death.
Robert was a truck driver who had worked for several area companies. He had also been an excavator and a dairy farmer. He enjoyed watching westerns and riding motorcycles. He was one of the founding members of the Lima Motorcycle Club.
Surviving are his sons Robert A. (Linda) Decker of Van Wert, William "Dean" (Mariam) Decker of Portland, IN; his three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his three great-great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his son Robin Decker; his brothers Carl, Roy, Auglaize "Gay", Arlo "Bill", Charles "Bud" Decker and infant brother; his sisters Etta Schmenk, Jane Shoemaker, Joan Cook and Idona Leonti.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 from 12 Noon to 2:00 PM at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL with funeral services following at 2:00 PM.
Interment will be in Ash Grove Cemetery, Lima.
