Robert was born August 13, 1934 to John and Goldie Hostetler who have preceded him in death. On November 15, 1958 he married Patricia "Patty" Hanley Hostetler who survives in Lima.

Bob worked at the Lima State Hospital for 30 years before retiring as a guard. Following his retirement he drove cars for Tom Ahl for 9 years. His hobbies included any type of go-cart or automobile racing, and NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt. He enjoyed many seasons working the grounds at Limaland. Bob also enjoyed listening to country music and horses.

Survivors also include his son, Kevin J. (Valerie) Breidenbach of Whitehouse, three daughters, Kimberly Ann (Ted) Sawmiller of Lima, Karla Marie (Andrew) Farley of Lima, and Kristine Lynne Laraway of Norfolk, VA; eight grandchildren, Carrie, Matt, Brad, Megan, Bryan, Brooke, Sean, and Connor; four great-grandchildren, Mitchel, Bailey, Evan, and Emery.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Erin; two sisters, Verna Bowers and Ethel Miller; and his brother, Donald Hostetler.

A family graveside service will be held in Greenlawn Cemetery, Elida.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rita's Hospice.

Dear Patty,
JoAnne and offer our condolences to you and the family in your loss. Uncle Bob was one of the first childhood friends I can remember. He had a pony and he would let me ride it. He was five years older and I was around 4 or 5.
