ELIDA — Robert O. Jack, beloved husband and father, age 92, formerly of Lancaster, Columbus, Findlay, Cridersville and Mobile, AL, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2021 at his residence. He was born Oct. 1, 1928 in Lancaster, Ohio to the late Robert M. and Evelyn (Thomas) Jack. He married his first wife Loretta Derringer in 1952 and she preceded him in death in 1995. He married Joan Nuckles on the beach in Hatteras, NC May 29, 2001, She survives in Elida.
Bob graduated from Lancaster High School and had attended The Ohio State University and Franklin University. He served 4 years in the U.S. Navy, part of which was during the Korean War. He was an engine man on the USS Bayfield and on a tugboat in Guam, LST 883 and 822. He had been an industrial engineer for Anchor Hocking, Whirlpool, Westinghouse and Ingles Industries. Bob enjoyed traveling, riding motorcycles, camping, fishing, roller-skating, OHIO State football, music and most of all dancing. He never met a stranger and loved his family more than anything. He was always happy and fully enjoyed his life to the very end.
Additional survivors include children: son Steven (Claudia) Jack of Gomer, daughter: Laura Jack of Miamisburg, OH, step-son: David (Elizabeth) Nuckles of Berkeley Springs, WV, step-daughter: Amy (Tony) Grimaldo of Green Bay, WI and grandchildren: Amanda Donaur, Adam Jack, Kate Schmitzer, Marianna Grimaldo and Michael Grimaldo.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Sue Ellen Jack in 1998 and a sister E.M. 'Jackie' Wolfinger in 1966.
Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Putnam County Hospice, 575 Ottawa-Glandorf Rd #3 Ottawa, OH 45875.
