Robert Torbet

LIMA — Robert Paul Torbet, 83, passed away at 10:15 am, March 25, 2021, at Springview Manor Nursing Home.

He was born May 13, 1937, in Lima to Harold and Catherine (Sielschott) Torbet who preceded him in death. On August 20, 1961, he married Ann W. Hoffmann who survives in Lima.

He was a 1955 graduate of Lima Central High School and a 1962 graduate of Ohio Northern University. Bob worked with his dad and brother at Jones Hardware, then worked at WIMA Radio, then became Owner and Operator of Rent All Mart. He was a US Navy Veteran, a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Lima Exchange Club, NWO Model T Club, Ft. Wayne Railroad Society, and Past President of the Westside Swim and Racquet Club. He was a board member of the Allen County Historical Society and the John H. Keller Railway Exhibit.

Survivors include: a Son, Scott (Bethany) Torbet of Mason; a Daughter, Mary Ann (Doug) Cox of Haverhill, MA; 4 Grandchildren - Tyler and Paige Torbet, Matthew and John Cox; a Sister, Suzanne Hagen of Raleigh, NC

He was preceded in death by: a Brother and Sister-in-law, Thomas Oliver (Sue) Torbet.

Friends may call from 12:30 pm until time of services at 2:30 pm Thursday, April 1, 2021, at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES SHAWNEE CHAPEL with Pastor Dan Gutman officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Allen County Historical Society or the John H. Keller Railway Exhibit.
