Ronald Miehls Obituary
RONALD MIEHLS
OTTAWA — Ronald J. Miehls, Jr., 49, of Ottawa died Thursday, January 23, 2014 as a result of an accident on Perry Street in Ottawa. He was born June 5, 1964 in Lima to Ronald Miehls, Sr. and Marilyn (Kuhlman) Miehls and they both survive in Ottawa. On July 7, 2007 he married Dora (Rivas) Miehls who also survives in Ottawa.
He is also survived by 3 step-daughters: Tina Gorsuch of Ottawa, Bobbie Gorsuch of Toledo, and Crystal Green of Bryan; 6 step-grandchildren; a brother: Rick (Jill) Miehls of Kalida; a sister: Barb (Scott) Schroeder of Glandorf; his maternal grandmother: Martha Closson of Ottawa; 5 nephews; his dog: Danny; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Earl and Rita Miehls; maternal grandfather: Elmer Kuhlman; 3 uncles: Earl Miehls, Jr., Kenny Miehls, and Dan Miehls; and a cousin: Steven Miehls.
Ron was a tow motor driver for KMI in Kalida since 1998. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Lima. Ron was a member of the NRA; the Oakland Raider Fan Club; Raider Nation; and was known as "The Shadow". He enjoyed being with his step-grandchildren and his nephews.
A Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 27, 2014 at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa with Evangelist Mike Hartman officiating. Burial will follow in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Ottawa. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

I am another who met Ron through the Internet discussing all things Bond and then later on NFL, the friendship built up on there with Ron and others was so special that it lead to some of us from the UK visiting some great people across the pond, one of those I met was Ron and it was great to see the person who had always come across as knowledgable and friendly was just that in person.
Ron I will miss you and our banter across the interwebs, I would like to pass on my condolences to Dora and all the family and hope at this very sad time you can all remember the great times you have had with Ron and the love he brought into your lives.

We have never met, but I have known Ron since the late 80s through Mike Fisher and WLIO. Mike, Ron, and I had a lot of fun times in the past. There was never a dull moment when the three of us got together! He will be greatly missed! You and your family our in our prayers.

I first 'met' Ron as part of an online James Bond newsgroup we both frequented; he was witty, knowledgeable, friendly and very supportive of me when my Mum passed, something for which I shall always be deeply grateful - he had a quiet 'way' with words which made him a very special man.
Subsequently when several of us from the UK travelled to the US to meet with him, Dora and other group members lifelong friendships were formed and I was privileged to be able to call Ron a friend - we talked about life, Bond, the Raiders and much more.
As do so many others I have some great and abiding memories of him, he touched the lives of countless people (some of whom he never met in person but still counted him as a friend) from across the world and he will be sadly missed but never, ever forgotten.
My thoughts and deepest condolences are with Dora and his family... R.I.P. Ron

My Dear Dora,
I am so sorry. I just want to tell you how much I appreciate Ron. He was one of the first people by my side when I fell ill at work. I so appreciated how comfortable he helped me to feel because I was new to my job and didn't know anyone.

Dora & family, so sorry for your loss. It was a very difficult day on Friday as everyone came in to work to find out the terribly sad news of Ron. Several tear filled eyes. Something I would like to add about Ron, about a month ago or so Ron was highly commened at work for helping another associate as she fell ill. Ron jumped from his forklift & stayed at her side till help arrived. That shows what kinda good hearted guy Ron was. RIP Ron..you will truely be missed by all your co-workers and Dora please know if you need anything I can help you with, just let me know.

"Shadow" was a scholar of the James Bond films. He has many friends on several continents among the online James Bond community who will miss him deeply. I never spoke with him but have appreciated his insight and sense of humor for many years.
