CELINA -- Sara E. Schlarman, age 89, of Celina, Ohio passed away peacefully on Monday, November 17, 2025 surrounded by her loved ones at the Devine Rehabilitation and Nursing at Shane Hill. She was born on May 16, 1936 in Randolph County, Indiana to the late George R. and Helen A. (Saller) McGill. On May 11, 1957, she married her best friend and soul mate Elmer J. Schlarman, who passed away on August 4, 2010. Together they shared 53 years of a loving and happy marriage, building a life centered on devotion and family while raising six children.

Sara is survived by her children: Richard Schlarman of Celina, Donald Schlarman of Columbus, Joann (Joel) Zacharias of Celina, Joseph Schlarman of Celina, and Diana Schlarman of Celina. Sara was blessed with seventeen grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, all of whom she cherished deeply. She also leaves behind her sister Suzanne (Ed) Heuker of New Bremen, who shared in her lifelong journey of family and faith.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Sara was preceded in death by her daughter Kathleen Wangler, and her two brothers George Andrew McGill and Andrew Richard McGill.

Sara graduated from Jackson Ohio Township High School in Union City, Ohio. She graduated from the Good Samaritan Nursing School and then worked alongside Dr. George McIlroy for seventeen years and retired after thirty-one years as a nurse for Dr. Shanthi Satyanarayana MD, where her commitment to care touched many lives in the Celina community.

A woman of deep faith, Sara was a devoted member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina where she found strength, fellowship, and lifelong friends. She was very active with the Ladies Sodality and distributed communion to nursing homes in the Celina area. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella #810 of Ft. Recovery.

Above all, Sara's greatest joy was her family. She loved and cherished each member, creating a legacy of warmth, devotion, and resilience that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Her family and friends will remember her a as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, nurse, and friend whose kindness and dedication made a lasting difference.
