HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC -- Thomas Geoffrey Gregg, 72 of Hilton Head Island, SC, went home to Jesus peacefully on December 2, 2025 after an extended illness. He was born June 9, 1953, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Jane and Thomas Gregg. Geoff was a beloved brother, uncle, business leader, and friend to many. His warmth, humor, and quiet strength touched the lives of all who knew him.
Geoff was a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He earned his first paycheck at the age of 11, working for the family-owned Gregg's Department Store founded by his great-grandfather in 1885. Upon the death of his father in 1983, Geoff became the President and CEO of both Gregg's Department Store and Enzyme Industries, Inc. In 1985, after 100 years in business, Geoff made the difficult decision to close the family's store and focus his attention on Enzyme Industries, Inc. Founded in 1970 in Lima, Ohio, Enzyme Industries, Inc. is a manufacturer of liquid enzymatic products for specialty applications. In 1990, the operation was moved to Heath, Ohio where it continues today.
Geoff led a full life with his faith, family and career as priorities. He was known for his humor and bold statements and always delivered with wit and a gleam in his eye. Geoff split his time between Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin and Hilton Head, SC, depending on the season. Geoff's legacy will live on in the stories and laughter of his friends and his lifelong devotion to his Cleveland Browns. Quick with a joke and a sly grin, Geoff's ceaseless hope to see his beloved Browns into the playoffs was his Sunday afternoon passion. Geoff enjoyed the company of several rescue dogs, golf, boating, and his travels to places including New Zealand, Israel and Kauai, Hawaii.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Carol Overland. He is survived by his brother Robb (Lisa) Gregg, Milwaukee, WI and nephew Oscar Gregg. He will be especially missed by his fiancée Debra Fletcher of Hilton Head Island, his business partner, Kevin Leach of Heath, OH, and Pastor L.A. Marzulli/Spiral of Life.
A private memorial for Geoff will be held at a future date. Donations in Geoff's memory can be made to www.orphanshade.com, which helps support an orphanage in Malawi, Africa.
