Tomas Torres Obituary
LIMA -- Tomas "Tom" Torres, 89, passed away January 16, 2025, at his home.
Tom was born November 22, 1935 in Camargo, Mexico to Florencio and Petra (De LaRosa) Torres who preceded him in death. On September 7, 1957 he married Sylvia (Treviño) Torres who survives.
Tom was a member of St. Gerard's Catholic Church of Lima and worked as a machine operator for Ford Motor Company, Dana Corporation, and Neon Products. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cheering for the Cleveland Guardians, Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Cleveland Browns. He had a huge sweet tooth and loved to listen to music and dance. Tom had a heart of gold, and above all loved his family deeply.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Torres of Lima; children, Thomas Torres of Lima, Oscar (Leonor) Torres of West Palm Beach, FL, and Sonia (Jeff) Haggerty-Steinke of Lima; grandchildren, Natalie (Jay) Minihan of Cincinnati, Nick (Eva) Torres of Lafayette, CO, Nicolle (Chris ) Haggerty of Cincinnati, Nathan (Kari) Torres of Austin, TX, Nevin (Naomi) Torres of West Palm Beach, FL, TJ Torres, Jr. of Lima, and Elizabeth; great-grandchildren, Lana, Zoe, and Diego; great-great grandchildren, Preston and Naomi; and sisters, Mary DeLuna of IN, Oralia Zimmerman of Delphos, and Juanita Bouvier of IN.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Charlie Torres, Josephine Tippie, Frank Torres, and Rita Torres.
A visitation will be held Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services - Shawnee Chapel. Deacon Elias Pina. to officiate the service. The funeral ceremony will be Saturday, January 25, 2025, beginning at 3:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lima Rescue Mission. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.

Mr.Torres was a great guy I remember him being an inspiration to me.He helped with our Boy Scout troop 47 and always had great advice for me growing up. While in Ohio I was friends with the whole family especially Tom (taco) Torres I am truly grateful that I got to know him I know he will be missed I hope the pain of loosing such a wonderful Dad will be hard but remember we will see each other again so sorry Mrs. Torres , Tommy , Oscar and Sonia KTF AND God bless you all

Your husband and father was always so understanding & kind whenever I was at your home or by chance meeting. I recall that he always looked for the good in people, even when it was not merited.
