LIMA -- Victoriano Landin Quintero, age 92, passed away at 5:05 a.m. on Sunday, February 23, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, sacrifice, and unwavering strength. Born into adversity on November 17, 1932, in Seguin, TX, to the late Victoriano and Antonia L. (Landin) Quintero, he never let his circumstances define him. Instead, he carved his own path, proving time and again that determination and heart could overcome any obstacle.
A gifted athlete, Victor, played Bush League Baseball with the Beaumont Exporters, showcasing his passion and skill on the field. Beyond sports, his love for music led him to write and perform alongside the legendary Freddy Fender. His talents and ambitions knew no bounds.
Victor proudly served in the United States military. But above all else, his greatest devotion was to his beloved wife, Joyce Ann (Shappell) Quintero, who preceded him in death on June 7, 2009. Now they are reunited once more.
His unwavering spirit, determination, and kindness touched the lives of many. His legacy and spirit live on in us all and will never fade.
He is survived by his children, Thelma (James) Edwards of Greenville, SC, Josie (Gilbert) Davila of Edinburg, TX, Victoria Cole of Lima, Lelanna (James) Spencer of Lima, James (Betsy) Prichard of Lima, Gilbert (Peggy) Salaz-Quintero of Lima, Marcus (Junsuk) Quintero of Andover, KS, Victor (Hiachiko) Quintero of Lima, Joseph (Angie) Quintero of Lima, Thomas Best of LaFayette; 27 Grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Ann Archer; granddaughter, Dorene Edwards; great grandson, Carter Collins; and siblings, Miguel Quintero, Francisco Quintero, Refugia Quintero, Onesima Quintero, Inez Quintero, Joe Landin Quintero.
Services celebrating Victoriano's life will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Eastside Chapel. Burial of cremated remains will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2025, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of donor's choice.
