WILLIAM HITTLE
LIMA — William Samuel Hittle Jr., age 87, passed away September 13, 2015, at 3:17 pm, at the St. Rita's Medical Center.
Bill was born February 10, 1928 in Lima, OH, to William S. Hittle and Daisy Leola (Rousculp) Hittle Carsey who preceded him in death. On May 21, 1949 he married Helen Irene Alspaugh Hittle who preceded him in death on May 15, 2008.
Bill was a 1946 graduate of the Shawnee High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII and earned the WWII Medal. Bill had worked for White Chevrolet as a under coater. He then took a position with Teledyne Ohio Steel as a heat treator and worked there for 27 and a half years until he retired. He was a member of Grace Fellowship Church. Bill was a huge Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes football fan and also a Atlanta Braves baseball fan.
Bill is survived by a daughter, Dee (Leonard) Brewster of McEwen, TN, a daughter, Rebecca (Edward) Zimmerman of Lima, OH, a son, William S. (Phyllis) Hittle of Ada, OH, a son, Daniel R. (Pennie) Hittle of Lima, OH, a daughter, Martha K. (James) Reser of Lima, OH, a daughter, Melinda M. (Donald Sr.) Alsept of Lima, OH, a son, John E. (Ellie) Hittle of Ft. Jennings, OH, a daughter, Anna M. (Gregory) Rice of Spencerville, OH, a daughter, Laura S. Kindle of Lima, OH, a son, Timothy A. Hittle of Lima, OH, 33 Grandchildren, 47 Great Grandchildren, 9 Great Great Grandchildren, 2 sisters; JoEllen and Anna Jane.
He was preceded in death by a son, Samuel P. Hittle and 2 brothers; Roger E. Hittle and Robert L. (Helen) Hittle.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at 11:00 am at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL. Officiating the service will be Rev.Nathan Branim. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery following the service. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Navy.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 5-8 pm and one hour prior to services at the EASTSIDE CHAPEL.
Memorial contributions may be made to Gideon's Bibles.
