What I believe is my earliest memory of my very handsome Uncle Bill, who is my mother's little brother, is when him and my very pretty Aunt Alice arrived at our house, straight back home from California ( was that their honeymoon?). I can't know because I was just 4 or 5 years old. His mother, my Grandma Lyons lived in the upstairs apartment of our house. It is a pretty vivid memory though of what must have been a pretty "cool" car. My memory is that it was tan in color. It must have been a pretty big deal. Another memory was that my mom always said that when my Uncle Bill was young, he loved to fight, for fun! I also have memories of Uncle Bill and Aunt Alice's wedding and watching them stand together and cut the cake. A special memory is when my older brother Mike and I decided we would run away...I am sure just for the fun and adventure of it. We were very young! We packed our wagon and my brother made a nap sack like the Hobo's carried. A stick with a little handkerchief tied around the end holding something? He carried it over his shoulder, like Huckleberry Finn? We set off on our adventure and made it about 3 or 4 blocks away at my Uncle Bill's house. He invited us in and made us some soup. He no doubt called my mom and dad, because we did make it safely back home. Uncle Bill always had a smile and stories to tell. He will be missed by his loving family. Until we meet again. So many good memories of our Uncle Bill. What a great sense of humor. I remember as kids we kinda destroyed his convertible top of the car he left at our house in the mid-late 50-s. I was too young to know how it turned out but I suspect it didn't stop him from smiling for more than 30 seconds, if that.He was taking me home once with Aunt Alice, I might have been 7 or 8 and he had a Renault. So, he's asking me "Have you ever ridden in..." this car or that car and he asks me if I had ever ridden in a Renault, which is what we were in. He never got tired of goofing on me lol. He was a good man and knew how to enjoy life and I'm proud to share his name. May he rest in peace.
