LAKEVIEW -- William C. Timmermeister, age 80 of Lakeview and formerly of Lima, passed away Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 4:00 a.m. at The Greens.
William was born August 2,1945, in Miami, OK, to John W. and Virginia E. (Zajic) Timmermeister who preceded him in death. On August 6, 1966, he married Susan Pickett Bowdle who passed on March 1, 2010. He then married Deborah Davis on November 1, 2019, and she survives.
Also surviving are his son, Brian J. (Betsy) Timmermeister of Lima, and their children Noah Timmermeister and Joel Timmermeister. His daughter, Karin Timmermeister Brown preceded him in death in 2020, and is survived by her husband, Christopher of Columbus with their children, Berkley Elizabeth Brown and Ramsey Suzanne (Dereck Robinson fiance) Brown. Bill is also survived by his sister, Kay L. Timmermeister of Hillsboro Beach, FL. Additional survivors include Deborah's children, Jason Siegler of Chagrin Falls, Jeff Siegler of Pittsburgh and Jody Hicks of Oneida, NY, plus her 11 grandchildren.
Deborah's son, Dr. John F. Siegler preceded him in death.
Bill purchased Lima Cadillac from his mother-in-law, Martha Valentine Bowdle, in 1977. The name changed to Lima Auto Mall and in 1991, they opened up on Cable and Edgewood. As a longtime business owner, Bill made it a priority to support the community. This philosophy was adopted from his grandmother who impressed upon him that "they had certain privileges they been able to enjoy through life, and they have an obligation to help people who don't share some of those privileges."
Some of Bill's involvements included: Alexis de Tocqueville Society, Allen County Historical Society, where he was a past president, Allen County Visionaries, Allen County Visitors and Convention Bureau, Allen Economic Development Group, American House and Art Space/Lima. He assisted with Better Business Bureau of North Central Ohio, Blue Cross Blue Shield North Central Ohio Prospective Reimbursement Committee - Community Resource Board of Directors, Crime Victim Services, Downtown Lima, Inc. and James A. Rhodes State College where he was a past president.
He shared his knowledge with the Lima /Allen County Chamber of Commerce, Lima Area Jaycees, Lima Area New Car Dealers Association, Lima Firefighters Memorial Museum Fundraising Chairman, Lima Memorial Foundation, Lima Memorial Hospital where he was a past president, Lima Rotary Club, Foundation and Scholarship Program and past president, Lima Family YMCA and Limaland Business for Progress. Finally, he shared his expertise with the Metropolitan Bank of Lima (later Bank One of Lima), Springhill Neighborhood Association, Trustee Central States Cadillac Dealers Association and the United Way of Greater Lima.
He was a longtime member of Shawnee United Methodist Church, Filibusters, book clubs, Troubadours and The Lima Club. He was a collector of shoes, flashlights, binoculars, mustard, pickled fish, books and too many other collections to mention.
Services will begin at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at the Shawnee Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, with Pastor Lori Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, from 2-4, and 6-8 p.m., in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to United Way, Allen County Historical Society or Lima Memorial Health Systems.

My deepest sympathy to all of Bill's family and friends. I was one of the 2nd shift nurses who cared for Bill during his stay in The Greens of Lima Convalescent Home. It's amazing to read all of Bill's accomplishments and philanthropic endeavors! He was always very kind and humble, focusing on asking staff how we were doing rather than himself and seemed genuinely interested in our lives. Was especially fun to be in his room during football season, seeing him enjoy watching the Ohio State Buckeyes play! We have many fond memories of him and his friend, Mike, who visited regularly. Bill will certainly be missed!

We are so sorry to hear of Bill's passing. We have known him for many years as friends of Brian. Bill always had a smile on his face and was quick with a one liner and a laugh. He wasa bigger than life generous man. Our deepest sympathy goes out to Brian, Betsy, their kids, and the entire family for their loss.

My sincere condolences to Kay, Deborah, Brian and Betsy, Christopher and all his grandchildren. Working with Bill on several community efforts including United Way of Greater Lima campaigns and as board Chair, I found him to be a working volunteer and if ever angry, I never saw it. He chose his words wisely. I will never forget his quick wit and smile . Rest in peace, my friend. Your light will shine on.

I did not know Bill well, nevertheless, I am sorry to hear of his passing. We chatted briefly a few times at his auto dealership where I was (and am) a customer for nearly 40 years. His first wife Susan was in my first period Spanish Class at Shawnee High School, one of the nicest, most pleasant people I met during two years there. My sincere condolences to Bill's family and friends and in particular to his son Brian, my favorite of the Timmermeister clan.

I never had the honor of meeting Bill but I know his wife Debbie and I'm so sorry for your loss. It has been over 57 years since I graduated with Debbie and losing someone you love is a terrible thing but it is comforting to know that soon no one will die but have everlasting life and will see their loved ones again. Until then, my thoughts and prayers are with her and her family. Harrison "Babe" Wicker

I knew Bill for many years and was always impressed with his devotion to Lima and his involvement in many civic organizations for the benefit of Lima. I also knew his sister Kay very well many years ago. A wonderful family.
