Steven Boyd French
LINCOLN, IL - Steven Boyd French, 67, of Lincoln, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2015, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Ill.
A Memorial Service for Mr. French will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2015, at the Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln with the Rev. Simon Taabu officiating.
Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. prior to the service.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Steven Boyd French was born April 13, 1948, in Lincoln, the son of Milton Jake "Bud" and Marcella Wilson French. He was united in marriage to Patricia Hayes on Oct. 7, 1972, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lincoln. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Aaron (Carrie) French of St. Louis, and Amanda (Nick) Vaini of Lincoln; one sister, Chartha Swingle of Mt. Auburn; four grandchildren: Sullivan and Vivian French, and Gavin and Giada Vaini.
Steven graduated from Mt. Pulaski High School with the Class of 1966 and then attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. He then joined the U.S. Army from 1968-1970.
He loved cars, being outside working in his yard and garden, watching NASCAR races and spending time with his grandchildren.
He retired in 2013 from the State of Illinois , Logan Correctional Center Power Plant.
He is a member of the American Legion Post #263 in Lincoln, and Elks Lodge # 914 in Lincoln,
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Carroll Catholic School.
