LINCOLN, IL - Violet Mae Robinson, 84, of Lincoln, passed away at her home at 4:40 a.m. on Monday, May 4, 2015.
Violet was born Aug. 23, 1930, in New Holland, Ill., the daughter of Martin and Edith Horn Last. She married Earl D. Robinson on May 29, 1948, in Lincoln, Ill. He preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 2005.
She is survived by a son, Kenneth (Debra) Robinson of Decatur, Ill.; a daughter, Sue (Larry) Casey of Decatur, Ill.; grandchildren: Brooke (Mark) Buttell, B.J. (Karly Hellrung) Huskins, and Debra (Jeff) Novota; great-grandchildren: Baylee Young Huskins, and Emma, Violet, and Emery Novota; and two sisters-in-law, Doris Last of Hartsburg and Evelyn Last of Lincoln.
Violet was the last of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Dana and Leslie Last; and sister, Barbara Steffens.
Violet was a retired State of Illinois employee at Lincoln Developmental Center. She was a member of Lincoln Christian Church. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and caring for the flowers in her yard.
Violet, along with her late husband Earl, was a country dancer for many years and a member of both Prairie Land Dance Club and Boot Kickers. "Gran" was like a mother and grandmother to many and was loved by all. She will be truly missed.
Services for Violet will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 8 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln with Ron Otto officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, one hour (10:00-11:00 a.m.) prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at New Union Cemetery in Lincoln.
Memorials may be given to: Logan County Senior Meals on Wheels or Love Repeated.
