Brad and Mary Wheat

The community of Amador County serves as a shining example of fellowship, and we come together to reflect upon two of the most contagious smiles we've ever had the privilege to know. Brad and Mary Wheat were pillars of this great mother lode we call home, and will never be forgotten. On Monday, September 3, 2018, Mary Elizabeth Wheat, age 43, and Brad Warren Wheat, age 45, went home to be with the Lord.

Their four beautiful children are their legacies; Westley, Bethany, Warren, and Isabella will miss their parents deeply. Mary's two sisters, Martha (Mark) Johnson, and Mikala Hooper, and her four brothers, Monty Hooper, Matthew (Sheela) Hooper, Mark (Tenille) Hooper, and Michael (Tara) Hooper, and Brad's two brothers, Chad (Stephanie) Wheat and Daniel (Emily) Wheat, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews, will hold on to all the good memories which were made throughout the years to make it through this difficult time. "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted," (Matthew 5:4).
Mary and Brad met while attending Colfax High School and often went to youth group together. Brad graduated in 1991 and Mary in 1992 and the high school sweethearts were married on July 16, 1994. They shared a warm and welcoming home in Sutter Creek, CA with their four amazing children. Affectionately known as "The Wheat Church House" in Sutter Creek, their refurbished home quickly grew into a town icon. They hosted musical events, weddings, and get-togethers frequently, and their doors were always open. They would donate their time to everyone and everything without hesitation and were always there to support their children in all their endeavors.
Mary was born on March 8, 1975 in Carmichael, Calif. to Marvin and Nila Hooper. She was bright, gracious, genuine, and excelled at helping others, which made her the ideal coach. Her passion was fitness, and she was the proud owner of the Crossfit Rugged Edge gyms in Sutter Creek and Ione, where she could encourage friends to do their best. Brad was born on May 1, 1973 in Arcadia, Calif. to Lloyd and Barbara Wheat. After high school, he attended Calvary Chapel School of Ministry in Santa Ana, Calif. to better understand the way of truth, and he shared this philosophy throughout his life which made him open, strong, and sincere. When he returned home to Amador County, he selflessly protected our streets and highways as a California Highway Patrol officer.
Although words cannot express the pain of loss, we were blessed to have known and shared their laughter and kindness. "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds," (Psalm 147:3).
