W. Eugene Bentzel

1935 - 2016

Mr. W. Eugene Bentzel, 80, of 17122 Bentzel Road, Sabillasville, MD, passed away Friday morning, January 8, 2016, in his home.
Born May 22, 1935 in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of the late Ivan Naylor and Margaret Katherine (Tressler) Bentzel. He was a lifelong resident of the Sabillasville area and lived his entire life in his family home.
Mr. Bentzel was employed at Thurmont, MD Shoe Company for 20 years. He also worked as a mechanic and carpenter.
In early years, he enjoyed hunting. He later enjoyed woodworking, refinishing and building furniture, NASCAR Racing and Blue Grass music.
Mr. Bentzel is survived by two sisters, Barbara L. Toomey and Phyllis A. Bentzel, both of Sabillasville; one niece, Jonelle (Bentzel) Delphey and her husband, Michael of Blue Ridge Summit, one nephew, Michael Toomey of Sabillasville; and four great-nieces, Karleena Delphey, Madisyn Delphey, Mycah Delphey and Machia Delphey.
Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, January 11, 2016 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 South Broad Street, Waynesboro with Pastor Jonathan D. Laye officiating.
Burial will follow in Jacob's Church Cemetery, Liberty Twp., Adams Co., PA.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Sunday evening and one hour prior to the service, Monday morning, in the funeral home.
