Andrew Blanchet Obituary

Andy was born at home in Taylorsport, Kentucky, on May 26, 1953, and entered eternal rest at the age of 72 on July 3, 2025. He passed away peacefully at home in Independence, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his father, George H. Blanchet Sr., and his mother, Mary E. Blanchet (née Gripshover); his daughter, Amanda N. Blanchet; and his son, Drew Blanchet. He was also preceded in death by his brothers James J., Daniel J., Michael L., and Gregory P. Blanchet, as well as his sisters Rose M. Blanchet, Bonnie A. Blanchet, and Theresa L. Lutes. Andy is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Dana L. Blanchet (née Meier); his sons Christopher D. Blanchet (Ashley) of Dry Ridge, Kentucky, and Ryan T. Blanchet of Independence, Kentucky; and his beloved grandchildren: Zachariah R. Johnson, Grayson M. Blanchet, Lincoln A. Blanchet, and Benjamin R. Blanchet. He is also survived by his brothers George H. Blanchet Jr. (Terri) of Florence, Kentucky, and Mark A. Blanchet of Independence, Kentucky; and sisters Patricia S. Hughes of Venice, Florida, Joan M. Martin of Independence, Kentucky, Jeannine M. Clark of Indiana, and Betsy Lameier (Steve) of Woodstock, Georgia. At the young age of 18, Andy began his career as a boilermaker. He later worked as a truck driver for Hartwig and was also the proud owner of Blanchet's Happy Dais in Covington. He concluded his professional career with 25 years of service as a senior maintenance technician at Perfetti Van Melle in Erlanger, Kentucky. After retirement, Andy enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, going on adventures, and playing cards with family and friends. He was a simple man, known for his kindness, beautiful smile, and sharp wit. Andy could always put a smile on your face with his spontaneous humor-especially when teaming up with his brother Mark to break into song, whether during Christmas shopping or dining at a restaurant. Andy's legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, shaped by his strong Catholic upbringing. He was a devout Catholic and a faithful member of St. Cecilia Church in Independence, Kentucky. Visitation will be held at St. Cecilia Church in Independence, Kentucky, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A Catholic Mass of Christian Burial will follow immediately. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky. All are welcome to join the celebration of Andy's life in the undercroft at St. Cecilia Church following the services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
