Greg Wilmhoff Obituary

Gregory "Greg" Wilmhoff, 71, of Lakeside Park, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025, surrounded by loved ones, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on August 20, 1953, Greg's life was marked by resilience, a pursuit of knowledge, and diverse talents. He attended the University of Kentucky, Northern Kentucky University, and Thomas More College. His career journey was unique, evolving from bus driver and construction jobs to a cytotechnologist, and finally becoming a respected leader in computer science. Greg's greatest joy was his family. He was the devoted husband of Debbie Wilmhoff and a loving father to Elizabeth (Doug) Whitaker, Katie (Brandon Schmitt) Wilmhoff and his late daughter Emily Wilmhoff who encouraged to be strong, independent women. He adored being "Grandaddy" to Ryely Wilmhoff, Ayden Schmitt, Cecilia Schmitt, and Emilia Schmitt, spoiling them and cherishing their time together. He also leaves behind his brother Mark (Doris) Wilmhoff, two nephews, and a niece. Outside of family and work, Greg found joy in gardening, and growing vegetables for his famed hot salsa. He was known for his unique humor, sharp wit, charm, kindness, and intelligence, making him a "go-to guy" for virtually any subject. He had a gift for making everyone feel special and lived by the philosophy "it is better to give than to receive," and always prioritized helping those in need. This was especially exemplified through his thoughtful service and dedication to Tukandu, a tandem bike riding organization for the blind. Greg spent countless hours helping those who are blind experience the thrill of cycling, a hobby he was passionate about. Greg's legacy is one of courage, intellectual curiosity, and profound love for his family. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. A visitation for Greg will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025 from 3:00-5:00pm at Blessed Sacrament Church in Ft. Mitchell. A Mass will follow the visitation at 5:00pm. Burial will take place on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at St. Mary's Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell. Donations can be made in Greg's memory to the American Cancer Society. https://donate.cancer.org/ Flowers can be delivered to Blessed Sacrament Church on Friday, July 11 before 2:00pm.

From Party Town to the fishing lakes and great times along the way. I´ve known Greg for about 15 years and always appreciated his unique take on a variety of topics from the ordinary to the obscure. His family was his life and they and all his friends will surely miss him.
