FRANCIS L. MORDECAI Francis L. Mordecai, age 83 of Marceline, died Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at Pioneer Skilled Nursing Center. Francis was born in St. Catharine, Missouri on May 28, 1940 to Vernie and Magdalene(Anthony) Mordecai. He married Betty Ann Bell on September 29, 1963 at Marceline. Francis graduated from Brookfield High School and had worked as a conductor for the ATSF Railway. He was a member of the Marceline Masonic Lodge, Tri County Shrine Club, UTU, Marceline United Methodist Church, was a former Boy Scout leader and formerly active in coaching little league football. He is survived by his wife Betty Mordecai of the home in Marceline, son Gary Mordecai and wife Katherine of Brighton, Colorado, daughter Kara Mordecai-Sanders of Osage Beach, MO, five grandchildren, Andrew James Mordecai, Daniel Thomas Mordecai, Katie Sanders Affolder, John Michael Mordecai and Dennis Albert Mordecai, and one great grandson Calum Mordecai. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Delaney Funeral Home in Marceline with visitation starting at 10 AM. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Marceline. Memorials may be made to Shriner's Children's Hospital or Boy Scout Troop 99 and mailed to Delaney Funeral Home 1720 N. Missouri Ave., Marceline, MO 64658.
