Mendon - Robert Francis "Bob" Truesdell, 83, of Mendon, MO, passed away on Friday, December 10, 2021.
Robert, or Bob, as he was known by his family and friends, was born on July 14, 1938, in Mendon, MO, the son of Ronald and Edith (Armstrong) Truesdell. Bob graduated from Northwestern R-I in Mendon, MO in 1956, holds a diploma from the National School of Aeronautics in Kansas City, MO, and was also a certified crop advisor through the American Society of Agronomy. In 1958, Bob joined the United States Air Force and served in the Strategic Air Command unit. He honorably served his country until 1965.
After his honorable discharge, Bob went on to work in the space program at McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis, MO and later returned to Mendon to farm. He owned and operated several agricultural businesses, had a custom baling operation, and eventually worked for Ray-Carroll Co-Op in Brunswick, MO. In more recent years, Bob traveled and worked for Hayward Baker with his son, Shane, until his retirement at the age of 80 years.
Bob was a member of the Swan Lake American Legion Post #586 and a member of the First Christian Church in Brookfield, MO. He enjoyed working on antique John Deere tractors and spending time with his family and friends.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Creta (Rodgers) Truesdell; his three children, Tama Marriott and her husband Dale of Brookfield, MO, Shane Truesdell and his wife Laurie of Mendon, MO, and Keturah Austin and her husband David of Bel Aire, KS; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and one sister, Mariellen Pulliam of Vail, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Edith Truesdell; one sister, Charlotte Lauhoff; and one daughter, Tara Lee.
A private family funeral service was held at Breshears Memorial Chapel in Mendon, MO on Wednesday, December 15, 2021. Pastor Mandy Tarpening officiated the service. A public visitation was held at Breshears Memorial Chapel in Mendon, MO on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Burial was in Mendon Cemetery in Mendon, MO. Military honors were provided by Swan Lake American Legion Post #586.
Pallbearers were Jerrod Jacobs, Hunter Marriott, Brennen Jacobs, Rusty Blume, Paul Speichinger, and Glenn Foley. Honorary pallbearers were Sterling Melton and Taylor Truesdell.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to Swan Lake American Legion Post #586. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Breshears Memorial Chapel at 207 W. Broadway, Brunswick, MO, 65236.
